How we work

The New Product Launch Programme

The New Product Launch Programme, which is normally run over a period of twelve months, comprises ten stages as follows:
Stages 1-2 Without commitment on either side
Stages 3-10 Initiated when you have signed our contract

Stage 1

Briefing. Meetings are held to enable us thoroughly understand your invention and its potential, and for you to get a comprehensive overview of Inventorlink's services. At this stage everything discussed is treated in strict confidence. If circumstances demand it we are happy to conduct briefings by post or on the telephone.

Stage 2

Assessment. Normally takes place within ten days of the briefing. Our team assesses the prospects for your project and will inform you, in writing, whether or not we believe that you and your product would benefit from our services. If the assessment is positive, the letter would include an agreement which, when returned duly signed with the once-only contribution, initiates the New Product Launch Programme.

Stage 3

Research. Marketing and manufacturing companies are identified that might be interested in developing and/or commercialising the new product idea. We aim to identify up to 75 such companies.

Stage 4

New Product Fact Sheet and Inventions International. We produce a New Product Fact Sheet for your project, illustrating your invention (where appropriate) and highlighting its unique features and selling points, to arouse interest and to give a first taste of the product to potentially interested parties. Inventions International is a monthly bulletin of up to date New Product Fact Sheets, which is distributed to subscribers, relevant companies, international and national newspapers, trade press, TV and radio.

Stage 5

Targeting companies. We search our extensive database of companies to identify those that operate in your product, market and industry sector. We then contact the senior executives concerned and send them your New Product Fact Sheet, allowing them to assess the suitability of your product for their company.

Stage 6

Meetings. Once a company has expressed initial interest, more information is supplied and meetings are arranged either at our offices, or at those of the interested company. We continue with meetings and discussions to select and finalise the most suitable company, or companies, to take up your new project.

Stage 7

New Product Register. Our New Product Register includes details of all the new products we assess, which is used by companies looking for new products or ideas. We're in constant communication with companies seeking new products.

Stage 8

Publicity. To help generate maximum interest in a new product, we contact national, regional and trade press, TV and radio with specific press releases giving them details of your project and its benefits. Press coverage cannot be guaranteed as it is obviously at the discretion of the journalist and the publication.

Stage 9

Licensing. Working with you, we will negotiate a licensing agreement with the company (or companies) best suited to market or manufacture your new product. We will explore joint venture situations depending on the preferred manner of commercial exploitation.

Stage 10

Collection of royalty and other income. We handle the royalty collection process on your behalf for the life of the license agreement, to ensure that you are receiving the correct payments, in accordance with the agreement between you and the licensee.

Contribution Options

Inventorlink covers the majority of the costs of the New Product Launch Programme, requiring you to pay a one-time contribution only. Our normal programme does not require you to make any further payment.

The following contribution options are structured from our many years' experience in the marketing of inventions and new ideas, no matter what the stage of development or type of industry/market.

Upon the successful marketing exploitation of a project with a suitable company or organisation, Inventorlink will receive a minority share of all financial success+ which will vary according to the contribution option you choose (see below).

Individual clients have different requirements and Inventorlink has accommodated these by offering three contribution options for the standard programme, as follows:

Option 1

A contribution of £2,500* plus 30% of success

Option 2

A contribution of £3,500* plus 15% of success

Option 3

A contribution of £5,000* plus 7.5% of success

Specially tailored programmes requiring more work than the standard programme will be subject to individual proposals. + Success refers to all gross income generated from outright sales, license fees, royalties, up-front payments and other income howsoever arising paid to the client as a result of agreements negotiated through contacts generated by Inventorlink. * Subject to VAT where applicable.

Inventorlink does not require sole agency.
